Abstract

The article examines the activity of Tver Zemstvo (elective district council in pre-revolutionary Russia) in the field of taxation. The author makes research into the period of zemstvo statistics formation when it existed undisturbed by the government. Zemstvo statistics was mainly examining peasant economy and fiscal assessment of real property. The author makes a conclusion that at the first stage Tver statistics had a great influence on the economical live of the province.
