The article analyzes gender relations in the community of artists in the post-revolutionary period, when fundamental transformations took place in all spheres of society. On the basis of egodocuments and statistical materials the following are examined: the possibility to get higher art education and its connection with the professional activity in art; family relationships; peculiaritys of male and female artistic labour; relations with the new government; the perception of changes in the image of the Soviet person. The conclusion was drawn that the community of artists demonstrated the changes caused by the demographic transition and transformation of the patriarchal family in Russia more vividly and clearly than any other strata of the population. However, these changes were brought on not by legislative and ideological innovations of the Soviet regime, but by a set of ideas and strategies accumulated in the pre-revolutionary periodDownloads
