Abstract

The article analyzes the origins of the landowners possessions in Toropetsky yezd in the 16th century. Much attention is given to the describing the changes that happened to the structure of the landowners in Toropetsky yezd in the 16th century. The author accepts the opinion of the soviet historians that the landowning system of Toropetsky yezd appeared in the early 16th century and developed rapidly, so predominated over state lands by the middle of the 16th century, that was a part of government policy of the Moscow authorities and was connected with consolidation influence in the boundary land, that became Moscow possession as a result of Russian-Lithuanian war
