Abstract

The review is devoted to the monograph of Siberian historian T.K. Shcheglova, published in 2018. The author not only summarized the results of many years of research on the adaptation of Russian peasants in the south of Western Siberia to the socio-economic and cultural-political changes of the 1930s and 1950s, but also deeply and comprehensively investigated the impact on their life of the radical restructuring of the rural world and largescale historical events that were accompanied by unfavorable, and sometimes extreme external conditions. The author of the review notes that this problem is an integral part of the cultural experience of past generations
