Abstract

This article examines the life of dual power in Petrograd on the experience of the U.S. Embassy staff. The author draws the previously rarely used sources - letters and memories of women from the embassy and the American community. The article concludes that in the context of war and revolution, women were actively involved in the activities of the diplomatic mission, working with men and helping fellow citizens as well as St Petersburg in a crisis situation
