Abstract

The article examines the history of the study of a national historiography concerning the structure of the urban population of the Russian cities XVII-beginning of XVIII. The author shows that the historical evolution of ideas about the structure of the urban population was due to the historiographical situation taking shape, and the volume of attracted to the study of sources. Author on the basis of studying the works of researchers and the general works shows how to study ways of differentiation of the urban population is evolving understanding of the structure of the population is planted, how are the terminological system
