Abstract

The author tries to comprehend the function of stone and bone zoomorphic figurines of the Upper Volga territory. The author supposes that a deep crisis of the appropriated economy was coursed a turning of the function of this figurines. The author suggests that these figurines had a cultic meaning among the population of the Volosovo culture. The author concludes that progressive changes of the economy of the boundary of the 3-rd – 2-nd millennia BC resulted in weaking and gradual disappearance of cults connected with hunting and fishing. It is also led to disappearance of the small forms art.
