CONCEPTUALIZING TIME AND SPACE: THE DIARY OF THE BLINOVS OF TVER
Abstract
The article examines the text of the diary which had been kept by the Blinov family for more than 100 years (1762–1896). Three generations of the Blinovs were making notes in the diary. Representatives of each generation described the events they witnessed in their own way. At the same time spatial borders of the world they described had been also constantly changing. The analysis of the text allows us to argue that the descendants of the Blinovs in the middle and second half of the 19th century had much less developed ideas of time and space than their ancestors. In contrast with the notes of Iov Blinov, the compiler of the text on the first pages of this literary monument, the notes of the later period betray no pretence to the genre of memoirs.Downloads
