This article analyses the forming of the personality of an outstanding religious figure of the beginning of the 19th century, Seraphim (Glagolevskiy) the metropolitan of St. Petersbug and Novgorod and also his course of life, Seraphim's participation in the events of the December of 1825 and his activities concerning the closing of the Bible Society in Russia
