Abstract

The article is devoted to the first research work of the outstanding Slavonic scholar, a corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences K. J. Grot. His student essay «Konstantin Bagrjanorodny’s information about Serbs and Croats and their moving on the Balkan peninsula. The historico-ethnographical research» became a landmark in his scientific biography. It visually demon-strates the high standard of education of the Saint-Petersburg University historico-philological faculty graduate and characterizes the scientific school of V. I. Lamansky
