Abstract

The article deals with an analysis of the influence of key socio-political processes of the Russian history in the first quarter of the 20th century on the state of Orthodox believers’ community. Evolution of the Orthodox community is considered in the light of the theory of modernization. The article also singles out special features of the influence which was exerted on the intra-church processes by the revolution and state policy with regard to believers in the first post-revolutionary years
