Abstract

The article is devoted to the activities of Tver Diocesan Council in 1918–1920. The author states that it successfully combined authoritarian traditions and the democratic innovations born by the revolutionary events of 1917. Tver Diocesan Council tried to establish a partnership between the church organisation and lay people. As a result of these activities the diocesan governing body restored its prestige and influence on clergy and lay people
