Abstract

The article is devoted to a phenomenon of Karelian ploughing soldiers’ (pashennye soldaty) mass desertion from military service in the 1660s. The way of solving this problem by Olonets Military Commander's actions is under investigation. The main attention is paid to classification and analysis of the guarantee acts that were required from soldiers being dis-patched to war. The author tries to exposure some individuals ways of behaviour in connection with their reluctance to take the field
