Abstract

The article is dedicated to the formation of S. Y. Witte’s political reputation in the Russian society. It is examines the use of anti-Semitic rhetoric for statesman’s political discredit in the Russian Empire at the turn of XIX–XX centuries. Much attention is given to interconnection be-tween anti-Semitism and other phobias of the epoch. The paper analyses the updating of phobias in different political circumstances
