Abstract

The author turns to a little-studied plot in the history of Russian chronicles – a dated message about the arrival of Metropolitan Photius to Moscow. It is noted that in some domestic chronicles, based on a hypothetical code of the late XIV – early XV centuries, Photius’s arrival in Poskva is indicated on Easter Sunday 6919 (1411), but the calendar date is not given. The author points out that the calendar date of Photius’s arrival in Moscow (April 22, 1410), reflected in a number of chronicles of the 15th century, the common source of which can be considered the Rostov lord’s chronicle of the early 15th century, does not correspond to reality. The correct calendar date is reflected in the chronicle of the 17th century. – “Tverskoy sbornik” (March 23, 1410). The author offers an explanation for the error in the chronicles of the 15th century: the scribes used ordinary Easter eggs to calculate the date of Easter, the use of which led to the calculation of the date of Easter not for the current, but for the next calendar year.
