Abstract

In this article, based on materials from the State Archive of the Russian Federation and the Central State Archive of the Republic of Kazakhstan, many of which are being introduced into scientific circulation for the first time, the author examines the service of Archbishop Alexy (Sergeyev) as the administrator of the Kalinin (1950-1954) and Alma-Ata (1957-1958) dioceses of the Russian Orthodox Church. During his service in the Kalinin diocese, the number of registered parishes decreased from 90 in 1950 to 80 in 1954. As the administrator of the Alma-Ata diocese, he attempted to abolish the newly established Petropavlovsk diocese. Despite their complexity and ambiguity, these periods undoubtedly represent a significant part of the history of these dioceses that deserves exploration.
