In the churches of Kalyazinsky District, Tver Governorate, as in all parishes of the pre-revolutionary Department of Orthodox Confession, a large body of documents was created and accumulated. The record-keeping of religious communities has been extensively studied in historiography, but the organization of archival affairs at this level continues to attract the attention of researchers and requires the development of a source base. In 1912-1913, the Tver Scientific Archival Commission (TSAC) carried out a large-scale project to collect and analyze information on the archives of various state and public institutions and organizations in Tver Governorate, and the churches of Kalyazinsky District were no exception. This article, based on the TSAC's findings, examines the controversial opinions of clergy regarding the archival collections of Kalyazin churches.
