Abstract

The authors of the article, based on the original source (questionnaires of clergymen from 1922) and a other sources from the 1910s and 1920s, tried to find out the diversity of personal destinies of 668 clergymen of the Orthodox churches of the Tambov diocese and create their typology at the time of the end of the Civil War. As a result of the study, it was found that representatives of the extreme types of representatives of the post-revolutionary clergy (staunch defenders of the old system and «werewolves of the revolutionary era», «red pops») numbered in the dozens. Hundreds of clergymen in the studied sample are classified as «medium-active» types of specialists who are ready to work in their specialty under any government. Several thousand clergymen of the Tambov diocese of the 1910s did not appear in the sources of the military revolutionary period, with a high degree of probability they turned out to be part of the inconspicuous inhabitants of the revolutionary period.
