Abstract

This review is devoted to a book by American sociologist Ronald Inglehart (1934–2021), who uses extensive comparative data to analyze one of the key factors in the modern world – the decline of religiosity. The thesis about the declining influence of religion in high-income societies is tested using empirical data from surveys conducted from 1981 to 2020 in countries representing 90% of the world's population.
