Abstract

This article examines confessional history as a crucial substantive component of the general course in Russian history, providing a deeper understanding of the mechanisms of Russian statehood formation, the specifics of the country's sociocultural development, and the origins of Russia's contemporary religious landscape. Based on an analysis of the Concept of History Teaching and the basic textbook on Russian history for students in non-historical majors and fields of study edited by Yu. A. Petrov, problem areas in the study of confessional history are identified and the need for further improvement of conceptual approaches to standardizing the content of historical education is substantiated.
