Requirements for Matricukation in Wimen’s Institutes in Russia in the Late 18th – Mid 19th Centuries (On the Example for the Enrollment of Noble Women from the Tverskaya Province into the Capital’s Education Institutions)

The article is devoted to the requirements for matriculation in women's institutes in Russia in the late 18th – mid-19th centuries. Based on the study of regulatory prescriptions and real stories of enrollment of noblewomen from the Tver province in the capital's educational institutions, are analyzed the qualitative aspects of the state strategy regarding the educational profile of representatives of the privileged class, are revealed the specifics of the target audience of students, a significant proportion of whom were girls from the provinces. It is concluded that the requirements for matriculation characterized women's institute education in Russia as a kind of social care for poor noblewomen, a contribution to the preservation of the community of the noble nobility as a special category and the reproduction of its cultural ethos.
