The First All-Russian Congress on Women's Education (1912-1913): problems of organization and interaction

In the article, the author reconstructs the problems of preparing the First All–Russian Congress on Women's Education (26.12.1912–04.01.1913), basing on archival documents, «Congress Diaries», reports of the Russian League for Women's Equality and newspaper articles. The problems of financing the congress and the specifics of obtaining permits for mass events, organizational details of holding an educational and industrial exhibition, difficulties in interacting with ministries and city authorities are investigated. Based on the data obtained, the author concludes about the specifics of organizing the Congresses of the women's movement of the early twentieth century in the context of the political history of Russia. The Education Congress is considered as a platform for interaction between representatives of the women's movement, scientists and educators, professional politicians and government officials.
