This article reveals the number of materials published in 1871-1918 in Kurskiye yeparchialniye vedomosty magazine on cholera epidemics; carries out the classification of these publications by genre. The author identifies ways of organizing assistance to the population from the clergy. The article compares information about cholera broadcast from pages of the journal with the current level of scientific knowledges about it in order to establish the degree of effectiveness of these materials in organizing the fight against emerging epidemics. The author makes conclusions about the ineffectiveness of this communication channel between clergy and laities in matters related to cholera due to the small number of subscribers; about peculiarities of publications of some genres and the inability to identify the most common genre of «cholera» materials due to their small number.
