Vestnik TvGU. Seriya «Istoriya». 2025. № 3
No. 3 (2025)ssue 3, 2025, is thematic: it publishes studies on the history of female education in the Russian Empire, the Soviet Union, and modern Russia. This thematic selection of studies is prompted by the 155th anniversary of P.P. Maksimovich's Women's Teacher Training School, the forerunner of Tver State University, which will be celebrated in 2025.
An article by Doctor of History A.V. Belova (Tver, Tver State University) is devoted to matriculation into women's institutes in the late 18th to mid-19th centuries. O.A. Valkova (Doctor of History, Moscow, Institute of Russian History, Russian Academy of Sciences) examines the role of family in the education of the first Russian female scientists. An article by Doctor of History A.V. Zhidchenko (Moscow, Institute of Economics and Archaeology, Russian Academy of Sciences) describes the daily academic and extracurricular activities of female students at the Omsk Polytechnic Institute. Lisitsyna (PhD, Tver, Tver State University) uses the example of the Moscow nobility to characterize female home education in the first half of the 19th century. N.A. Mitsyuk (Doctor of History, Moscow, Institute of Economics and Archaeology, Russian Academy of Sciences) uses materials from the Smolensk province to illustrate the organization of daily life in girls' gymnasiums in the second half of the 19th century. N.L. Pushkareva (Doctor of History, Moscow, Institute of Economics and Archaeology, Russian Academy of Sciences) presents an overview of the history of single-sex education in Russia over ten centuries. O.I. Sekenova (PhD, Moscow, Institute of Economics and Archaeology, Russian Academy of Sciences) analyzes the organizational challenges of the First All-Russian Congress on Women's Education (1912-1913). A.V. Tsyganova's article (Tver, Tver State University) is devoted to the history of the formation and development of the Tver Mariinsky Girls' Gymnasium.
The "History of Russia" section features research on the history of higher education in the USSR (the history of archaeology teaching at Kalinin State University is explored in an article by E.N. Zhukova (PhD, Tver, Tver State University)) and on the history of local government in the Russian Empire (M.N. Shoshkina (Penza State University) examines the position of the zemstvo district chief using the example of the Penza Governorate).
The "Historiography. Source Studies. Historical Research Methods" section features a study by S.B. Makeeva (Federal Research Sociological Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences) on the regional demographic development of the border region of Transbaikalia in the late 20th and early 21st centuries.
The "Graduate Student's Page" section features articles by N.A. Kozlov (on the publication of L. Turkevich's diaries) and E.V. Levina (on memorandum books as a source for studying Baltic settlers in the Pskov province).
V.P. Potamskaya (PhD, Tver, Tver State University) discusses C. Skinner's approach to interpreting early modern thought.
The section "Criticism. Bibliography. Scholarly Life" presents a historical review dedicated to the V.V. Bolotov Center for Church History and Orthodox Culture (author: Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor T.G. Leontyeva).

The "Archaeology. Ethnography. Historical Geography" section features selected materials from participants in the 2nd All-Russian (with international participation) scientific conference "Tver Land and Adjacent Territories in Antiquity" (Tver, March 18–21, 2025): an article by T.M. Gusentsova (Autonomous Non-Commercial Organization "Research Institute of Cultural and Natural Heritage", St. Petersburg) (co-authored with N.A. Zheltova) is devoted to the complex of stone Eneolithic products of the Podolye 3 site in the southern Priladozhye, the article by D.A. Ivanov (Ryazan Historical and Architectural Museum-Reserve) discusses a new settlement monument of the Fatyanovo-Balanovo cultural and historical community in the Ryazan Poochye Fedyakino 3, the study by I.I. Razgildeeva (Institute of History, Archaeology and Ethnography of the Peoples of the Far East, FEB RAS) is devoted to the resource factors of the territory and their role in the formation of archaeological microdistricts, V.Yu. Suborov (Yaroslav the Wise Novgorod State University) and colleagues (E.A. Borisevich and T.V. Karpova) are publishing, with commentary, extremely important materials from the archive of Borovichi local historian G.I. Ivanovsky.
The section "Historiography. Source Studies. Historical Research Methods" features an article by V.Yu. Bystryukov, devoted to the presentation of the image of Alexander Nevsky in the concept of the Eurasianists.
An article by graduate student A.S. Karachevtsev (Kursk), published in this issue, examines how the problem of cholera was presented in the provincial Orthodox press.
A report by N.A. Dmitriev (Tver State University) describes the registration files of parishes in the Kalinin Diocese in the post-war period.
The section "Criticism. Bibliography. Scholarly Life" features a remark by Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor T.G. Leontyeva on the book “The Second World War in school textbooks of the 20th and 21st centuries: history lessons” (under the general editorship of I.M. Suvorova. Petrozavodsk, PetrSU Publishing House, 2023).

Bashkirov at the Kalinin Pedagogical Institute is devoted to the study of Candidate of Historical Sciences E.N. Zhukova), the results of studying the activities of the statutory department All-Russian Local Council (candidate of historical sciences A.I. Mramornov) and the history of the creation of the Valaam monastery (candidate of historical sciences D.A. Begovatov). Article by Ph.D. O.G. Leontyeva is dedicated to dedicatory inscriptions.
The section "General History" publishes articles by Doctor of History. E.V. Litovchenko (the study is devoted to the analysis of the content of three ekphrasis - Sidonius Appolinarius, Avitus of Vienne and Ennodius) and K.A. Petrov (the article deals with the economic and political deprivation of women in postcolonial tropical Africa in the 1980-2000s).
The issue traditionally publishes articles by postgraduate students. They present the results of research in the field of Meseum studies (O.V. Generalova), the study of the religiosity of Soviet women (K.P. Ermochenko), the activities of city government bodies in helping the front during the Russo-Turkish and Russo-Japanese wars, everyday experience in Ireland in the early 2020s (G.A. Snedkov).
The section dedicated to criticism and scientific life publishes a critical note by Doctor of Historical Sciences V.P. Buldakova, dedicated to graphomania and the origin of historiographic myths.

They present the results of research into the history of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Finland in the late 19th - first half of the 20th century (A.V. Kovalev), the history of theological education in the Tver diocese in the second half of the 18th century (A.V. Kroshkin). An article by a postgraduate student from China shows the evolution of attitudes toward women in Chinese families from 1900 to 1950.

Bogdanov), land relations in the Novgorod land in the 14th-17th centuries (N.D. Meneleev), the scientific heritage of E.P. Blavatsky (O.A. Mendeleyev)
In the section dedicated to criticism and scientific life, a review by Doctor of Historical Sciences V.P. Buldakov on the monograph by V.V. Khatarev-Garnishevsky ("Confrontation. Special Services, Army and Power on the Eve of the Fall of the Russian Empire, 193-1917. Moscow, 2020") is published.
