REFORM OF THE PENITENTIARY SYSTEM: CONCEPTUAL PROVISIONS AND REALITIES

Abstract

The article examines the conceptual approaches of the Russian legislator to the problem of reforming the penitentiary system, provides an analysis of the criteria used to assess the results of the activities of institutions executing punishments related to isolation from society. Based on the study of domestic and foreign practice in the field of execution of punishment in the form of deprivation of liberty, proposals were made to improve the mechanism of penitentiary and post-penitentiary resocialization.
