Practical aspects of identifying and suppressing the smuggling of cultural values

The article analyzes certain aspects of law enforcement activities related to combating crimes in the field of art, as well as issues of developing mechanisms for the protection of cultural heritage. Object of study: relations arising in connection with the identification and suppression of smuggling of cultural property by customs authorities. The subject of the study is the organization of operational - search activities aimed at suppressing the smuggling of items of historical and cultural significance, as well as materials from judicial practice and statistical data on crimes under Article 226.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The purpose of the study is to analyze the practical aspects of operational search activities related to the suppression of illegal imports and the export of cultural property, and the development of an algorithm for the use of relevant operational investigative measures. When carrying out scientific work, general scientific and special methods of cognition were used, including methods of formal logic (description, analysis), as well as the formal legal method.
