Abstract

Motherhood is considered in the aspect of traditional values ​​vital for society. The author proceeds from the fact that the concept of motherhood in its semantic content reflects two stages of a woman’s life: biological (implementation of the reproductive function) and social (interaction between the mother and the child she gives birth to). The opinion on the need to preserve in legislation the presumption of motherhood of a woman who gave birth to a child, based on the fact of childbirth, is substantiated, and attention is drawn to the legal terminology used.
