The article examines professional «white collar» crime in Russia as a dangerous phenomenon of our time. It is determined that this type of criminal activity has a number of distinctive features from the «traditional» forms of criminal behavior of «professionals». The purpose of this study is to establish the key characteristics of professional «white-collar» crime in Russia in modern conditions of transformation of criminal professionalism. To achieve this goal, the research used methods of synthesis, analysis, generalization, as well as the formal legal method. The study found that «white-collar professionals» as «new type» criminals with legal professional status use their legal, financial and managerial competencies for illegal purposes and easily transform legal knowledge and institutional resources into a tool of criminal activity. Another important feature of this phenomenon is moral ambivalence and deformation of professional consciousness, expressed in the phenomenon of «double morality of competence», when violation of the law is perceived as a rationally justified means of achieving personal or corporate goals. In addition, it has been established that in modern conditions this type of criminal activity acquires a hybrid character, combining signs of «white-collar» and organized crime, as a result of which professional «white-collar» crime is one of the dangerous forms of modern criminal activity, requiring a comprehensive scientific understanding and the development of new approaches to countering this phenomenon.
