Abstract

The object of the study is social relations arising in connection with ensuring the unity of the peoples of Russia. The subject of the study is the peculiarities of the development of religious extremism in the Russian Federation. The goal is to identify the causes of the factors contributing to the rapid development of Islamic extremism in our country. Specific tasks are: research on the statistics of terrorist acts committed by Islamists; analysis of the crime rate in this area; analysis of the number of people convicted of crimes by extremist orientation by years. One of the main research methods is comparative. The results of the study can be represented by the following main conclusions: - "unfriendly countries" are actively trying to use the socio-economic problems existing in our country to destroy internal unity, radicalize the protest movement and religious extremism in a real and effective way to provoke in our society - "color revolution," "the fight against extremism should be aimed at eliminating the socio-economic, political and spiritual causes of the radicalization of Islam," this problem cannot be solved only by "forceful methods." The reason for this state of affairs is: insufficient educational work of the Islamic clergy to explain the traditional spiritual values   of Islam; not the readiness of the Islamic clergy to work with prisoners harboring ideas of Islamic extremism; difficulties in interpreting the provisions of the Qur'an.
