Abstract

The role of dichotomy in science and in the construction of law is shown. Dichotomy can be viewed as a way of logical thinking and as real-life and interconnected parts of a single whole. In addition to dichotomy, trichotomy and polychotomy can be distinguished as more complex forms of organizing thinking and building the real world. Three central dichotomies in jurisprudence are highlighted: private and public law, subject and object, rights and obligations, as well as other dichotomies.
