Abstract

The article provides an overview of the current state of language legislation in the republics of the Russian Federation, highlights the key features of certain regulations. The proposed article provides an overview of certain contradictions and lacunae that have been identified in the study of the regulatory framework for the functioning of the native languages of the nations of the Russian Federation at the regional level. In particular, the problem of the lack of a language law in certain republics of the Russian Federation is highlighted. In addition, certain language normative acts of the republics contain legal norms that could be replicated as best practices in other subjects of the Russian Federation. The authors make proposals aimed at improving the regulatory framework of the regional language policy and their harmonization with Federal legislation.
