The role of classical tradition in the transformation of modern education
Abstract
The article analyzes the role of the classical tradition in the transformation of modern education. It is shown that this tradition presupposes a significant limitation of the commercial functions of the university and the preservation of its autonomy as a valuable social phenomenon in itself, whose task is to form and socialize a personality. Secondly, the classical principles of university education, which always include the formation of a student's worldview, remain universal and unchanged, regardless of any technological innovations (digitalization, etc.). Thirdly, the model of dialogical learning based on the principle of knowledge transfer from teacher to student is fundamental: the university is the platform where this can happen. In addition, fourthly, the university is a space of a special kind of democracy, namely, the possibility of free communication between various individuals and social and cultural groups of people. It is in this environment that not only the transfer of professional knowledge takes place, but also the transfer of socio-cultural traditions in the broadest sense of the word.
