Torquato Tasso and the golden age of russian poetry (on the reception of the renaissance tradition in the Russian historical consciousness)
Abstract
The article examines the reception of the Italian Renaissance in the historical consciousness of the first third of the 19th century. Russian literature of the 19th and early 20th centuries perceived Torquato Tasso, «the last poet of the Renaissance», as a complex image of a poet, a sufferer, a knight, and a romantic hero, which was reflected in the literary space of the golden age of Russian poetry. The article also examines one of the most controversial pages in Russian cultural studies – the image of the Russian Renaissance, the features of which can be seen in the 19th century. The article analyzes the linguistic and historical consciousness of the epoch and the form of the Russian Renaissance, which was created, among other things, due to the hierophantic perception of Italy and the Italian Renaissance.
