The main factors that determine the choice of a profession and motivation for educational activities by students of pre-university institutions of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation are studied. The results of an empirical study of the leading motives of the educational activity of Suvorov students according to the method of V.V. Meletichev, in which five groups of motives are distinguished: social, cognitive, professional, personal and motives of social identification
