ON THE ISSUE OF VIRTUE AS A CATEGORY OF ETHICS AND PEDAGOGY
Keywords:

The relevance of the topic of the article is motivated by the socio-pedagogical significance of the problem of educating the virtues of young students, the solution of which depends, in particular, on the development of the issue of virtue in pedagogical theory. Having pointed out that pedagogy as a particular scientific discipline is based on the theoretical principles of ethics, the author turns to understanding the category of «virtue» in modern ethical research. Revealing common and different views of ethical scientists on the content of the concept of «virtue», the author correlates them with the Aristotelian tradition of understanding a virtuous person as a person who accepts his good as part of the common good. Having understood the interpretation of the concept of «virtue» in research on ethics in the sense of the concept / ideas of a person (his /her moral awareness, moral thinking) and in the sense of the category of ethics, the author proves that this concept is not completely identical to the concept of «moral quality», traditionally used in pedagogical research on education, thus motivating the importance of the status return of the concept of «virtue» to the categorical apparatus of pedagogyPublished
