Abstract

The article deals with the issues of the generalized-actual meaning of verbs of an imperfect type in the Past tense. Attempts have been made to clarify the issues within the framework of the differentiation of generalized-actual, concrete-actual and perfect meanings of imperfect and perfect verbs in the past tense. The reasons for the difficulties of Chinese students in the assimilation of this category of the verb type are named and possible ways of solving them are proposed
