RISKS OF GUIDE-INTERPRETERS’ PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES IN A CONTEXT OF INTERNATIONAL COMMUNICATION

The most recent changing in international communication causes the need to examine guide-interpreters’ activities as professionals’ activities that can facilitate successful intercultural dialogue. In this regard the article studies the terms of international communication as a set of risks that determine the characteristics of guide-interpreters’ professional activity. The authors match the types of guide-interpreters’ professional activities with the appropriate risks: risks of preparation, management risks, communication risks. The article highlights that these risks can cause ineffective intercultural communication that is generally marked by lack of understanding (or misunderstanding). The research could be implemented into the curriculum for translators’-, tour guides’-, and guide-interpreters’ professional developmentPublished
