THE ROLE OF MEDIA EDUCATION IN THE IMPLEMENTATION OF SOCIAL-PEDAGOGICAL FUNCTION OF MASS MEDIA

The article analyzes the innovative trends of the scientific and pedagogical community, in particular, the conceptual advantages of the processes of media education. The potential of media education mechanisms and the need for their legitimization by the pedagogical community are given. The article considers the issue of finding political decisions to include media education in the structure of educational standards. The importance of the purposeful qualitative development of media content containing educational meanings is also under analysis. The interrelation between the processes of informatization of a society and the introduction of interactive media tools in modern educational programs are established. Preferences of the youth as one of the factors shaping the mechanisms of media education are analyzed: on the one hand, the younger generation generally has a positive attitude towards media resources and media content, but at the same time there is indiscriminateness in the information consumed, lack of content-filtering skills.
