Abstract

The article presents the methods of research of a personality’s directivity towards the self-development in the different spheres of life, as well as its measurement tools. The authors offer the parallel forms of the tests for the adult and the teenagers, taking into consideration their age specific features. The methods are realized on the sampling: 212 adults (in the age of 19 to 62 years) and 140 teenagers (in the age of 14–16 years). The correlation analysis has shown, on the one hand, the propriety to combine two motivation tendencies in one construct: the motive of interest and the motive of importance, and, on the other hand, has revealed the specifics of their interrelation with the indicators of the psycho-emotional well-being. The methods have demonstrated the acceptable level of the construct- and criterial validity and reliability. The psychometric verification held has proved the acceptable use of the methods for the diagnostics of the directivity towards the self-development for the purpose of research and practice
