Abstract

The article analyses key systemic principles underpinning development of up-to-date vocational education and training curricula that have proved effective internationally. Interest in these principles is conditioned by a need to enhance quality of curricula which is feasible only if a holistic and systemic approach is used to fostering competences that are relevant both for the labour market and to the individual’s professional and personal self-fulfillment.These principles include integration in the curricula delivery of occupational and soft skills, of formation of relevant behavior models, adequate to the requirements of rapidly developing labour markets by means of appropriate organization of teaching and learning and of a stronger focus of work-based learning. The development of these principles has been reinforced and partially «encouraged» by interdisciplinary research results in such areas as pedagogy, didactics, psychology, neurophysiology, sociology
