Abstract

This article is devoted to the history of the development of higher education in the Russian Far East, which began with the founding of the Vladivostok Teachers' Institute in 1899. The urgency of studying the historical and pedagogical experience of the higher education of the 20th century in the Russian Far East is substantiated. The difficulties of the formation of public education in the Far East of Russia are determined. The main attention is paid to the understanding of the processes and phenomena of the higher education system of the Far Eastern Federal District of the XX century
