The paper discusses the risks imposed by intellectual and creative contests regarded as instruments and tools for some practical purpose, rather than in more absolute or ideal terms, in solving practical problems while pursuing education regardless of the aims of these contests, their participants and organizers. The paper focuses on methodological basis of axiological and conceptual support provided to the pupils in intellectual and creative contests. It advocates a model of ‘spiritual care’, which is being extensively developed abroad. It discusses its weaknesses and strengths and suggests some approaches for further studyPublished
