Abstract

In this article the role of practical phonetics in the system of teaching foreign languages is defined; psychophysiological principles of pronunciation teaching on the basis of accepted psychological theories of teaching are formulated; corresponding classification of exercises aimed to develop phonetic competence is given; existing institutional contexts and methodical approaches to pronunciation teaching are described, their advantages and disadvantages are laid out
