Abstract

This article is devoted to experimental study of characteristics of psychological defense mechanisms in first episode of paranoid schizophrenia. We have recruited 80 participants with first-episode of paranoid schizophrenia and 50 participants without mental illness for study of capabilities of social adaption and specifics of psychological defense. As a result of comparison study we find out the statistically significant differences between our groups with more pronounced and nonselective functioning of psychological defense in first-episode of paranoid schizophrenia. We use the conception of psychopathological vulnerability and we consider these characteristics of psychological defense in first-episode of paranoid schizophrenia to be a premorbid factor of stress vulnerability and of predisposition to mental illness
