Abstract

The article presents a theoretical analysis of the content and functions of age norms, understood as a kind of social norms. Age norms are defined as sustainable shared behavioral models including social expectations and regulations (prescriptions) regarding the conduct of a certain age people and subject to sanctions in case of their failure. The main research areas in which the age limit specified in the age models perform social roles, age models of social behaviors, age models of time and order of occurrence of key life events are discussed. The question of the existence of three types of age norms is formulated
