Abstract

The main characteristics of a linguistic corpus as a tool for teaching a foreign language are considered. The problem of using the corpus in teaching a foreign language at the initial stage is analyzed in detail. The approaches of Russian and foreign researchers to this issue are compared. The difficulties of using the corpus at the initial stage of teaching a foreign language and possible ways to overcome them are revealed. The directions of prospective research concerning the use of the corpus at the initial stage of teaching a foreign language are proposed
