Abstract

The main purpose of this research is to investigate the relationship between the big five personality factors and the organizational commitment of the lecturers in 3 provinces and cities: Hanoi, Thai Binh and Tuyen Quang. The sample includes 560 lecturers which were selected by convenience sampling. The short version of Big Five Factors by Goldberg, L.R. and the organizational commitment questionnaire which was modified from Allen and Meyer‘s (1991) were used for data collection. The results showed a positive relationship between all of five personality factors and organizational commitment. The is influence of each personality factor on organizational attachment in different degree. Extraversion has the most positive influence on the lecturers' not only affective commitment but also normative commitment and has the negative influence on continuance commitment
