Abstract

The paper describes the results of the stage-by-stage experiment aimed to identify how the genre of the educational text influences the quality and pace of primary memorization of new lexical units in a foreign language by non-language University students. As revealed, anecdotes have the biggest potential, as the participants were able to reproduce the semantics of the relevant lexis most precisely. The pace of the test completion, however, did not significantly differ between the genres
