Abstract

This article focuses on the selection and use of authentic video materials for teaching professionally-oriented foreign language. The authors consider the main principles of cognitive theory of multimedia learning, such as segmenting principle, pretraining principle, modality principle, etc. After analyzing these principles, the authors state the possibility of their application in finding video fragments that are best for classroom work. In conclusion the importance of correct selection and use of authentic video materials for teaching professionally-oriented foreign language at non-linguistic university is emphasized
