MECHANISMS OF THE CREDIT SYSTEM FOR VOCATIONAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING

Abstract

The article carries a brief overview of conceptual, institutional and methodological foundations of the European Credit System for VET, including the key terms, links between credit units and learning outcomes, principles and mechanisms of ensuring transparency, quality and recognition of non-formal and informal learning. It is stressed that the introduction of the credit system must be accompanied by the modularization of curricula, with each module to be assessed individually thus allowing accumulation of credit points. It is also shown that structural units of qualifications that constitute modules ensure flexibility of the VET system and are a major tool for the accumulation of competences\qualifications. Also documents needed to use the credit system for the purposes of mobility are introduced
